More about our babyballet dance classes

Our babyballet preschool dance programme offers three stages of ballet classes, for young children aged 6 months to 6 years. Taught by thousands of dance teachers across the world, the babyballet syllabus has been carefully developed by dance professionals to introduce your child to the magic of dance, whilst creating precious moments between you and your little star. At babyballet® Swan Hill, we strive to create a fun, friendly and inclusive experience for everyone – no matter what your child’s age or ability. Not to mention, our classes are a great way for parents, carers and guardians to meet up and make new friends too!

For babies, tots, toddlers, preschoolers and school starters alike, babyballet classes at our venue in Swan Hill run on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays. Joanne Shipside Dance Force Swan Hill Australia Australian Licensee

 

Hi, my name is Joanne Shipsides.

I have been dancing for over 50 years, starting with the Royal Victorian Ballet School in Melbourne in 1971 at 4 years old and becoming part of the Swan Hill Ballet Guild in 1985 until it became DanceForce Swan Hill, I became the owner and Director from 2008 to 2023 and have now passed the studio onto a former student who has renamed it to Passion and Purpose Creative Therapy and Dance Studio where I will continue to teach Classical Ballet, Singing and Musical Theatre and running our beautiful babyballet Classes.  Dance has always been a part of my life. I believe that as a Dance Teacher it is my responsibility to keep up with the latest in dance techniques and teaching strategies so that my students are always dancing safely.

I’ve acquired Certificates in Teaching – Southern Federation of Dance, Progressing Ballet Technique, Acrobatic Arts, Dance Physio Level 1 for Dance Teacher and Health Professional Intensive Workshop, First Aid, YPAD (Youth Protection Advocates in Dance). These have helped me understand and teach the understanding of the dancers body and mind, it is very important for all my students to understand, as we dancers use our bodies differently to others in sport.

I have been part of babyballet Australia/New Zealand since it came to Australia in 2017 and it’s an amazing programme. It is so much fun to teach the little ones and have their parents join in as well as seeing their faces light up when it’s time to dance with Teddy and Twinkle Bear. Becoming a dance teacher was something I realised I wanted to do later in life and took on DanceForce where over the years I have seen some wonderful dancers move on to chase their dreams and travel the world. It’s very important to me to help students reach their goals and know that our Dance Family is always there to encourage their dreams and belief in themselves.

We also provide an opportunity for you to take over your own babyballet license so that you can run ballet lessons in your own area – exclusively!
